Can brave the elements counter an enchantments ability?

Asked by Rafattack25 11 years ago

I had a fabled hero and my friend put pacifism on him. He then attacked with a creature that if it had hit me, I would have lost the game. I decided to play brave the elements so I could protect fabled hero from white in order to block the creature attacking, but he claimed that "pacifism was already placed on him" so that would not counter act pacifisms ability to keep fabled hero from blocking. I was playing a 3 way so the other player agreed that brave the elements wouldn't counter act pacifisms ability so they ruled against me and I lost. Should I have lost that turn or would brave the elements counter act an enchantments ability if that enchantments color is protected against?

Try to link cards in your question in the future please.

Brave the Elements

The Pacifism would have fallen off for the reason you cite. Here's the actual rule that backs it up.

  • 702.16c A permanent or player with protection cant be enchanted by Auras that have the stated quality. Such Auras attached to the permanent or player with protection will be put into their owners graveyards as a state-based action

As long as the creature was white then the Pacifism will "fall off"
