Burn from Within

When playing Burn from Within against say Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger how much mana would I have to pay to deal enough damage to it to have it die and be removed from the battle field.

Burn from Within works pretty much as you would expect it to. First it attempts to deal whatever X you chose damage to the creature, then if it managed to do damage it attempts to remove the "indestructible" ability from it. Then, regardless of what just happened, it sets up a replacement effect where if the creature would die, instead it is exiled.

So, barring any effects that would stop this from happening, X=10 would work.

If Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger already has damage on it from combat or some other source you can put less mana in. If Ulamog already has lethal damage, X still has to be at least 1 because Burn from Within says "if a creature is dealt damage" meaning Burn from within has to deal some damage. Note that if Ulamog gets dealt deathtouch damage before you cast burn from within Ulamog will have that amount of damage, but it won't be considered deathtouch anymore. If He's dealt deathtouch damage after you cast burn from within, it will destroy him regardless of the amount.
