Bloodseeker vs Animating Manlands
Asked by Nunganok 13 years ago
A friend of mine was wondering whether or not bloodseeker deals its 1 damage to target player when manlands (in this case Inkmoth Nexus become animated. I believe it doesn't because its already on the battlefield - its ability is simply being activated which animates that land.
So is it true? Does it trigger Bloodseekers effect or am I right?

Blood Seeker states that the creature must actively come into play for the ability to trigger. With the change in status of a card on the field, like phasing or morphing, the creature is not entering the battlefield. They already existed, so no. Changing the status of Inkmoth Nexus into the blinkmoth creature will not trigger Blood Seeker 's ability.

Blood Seeker 's ability will not trigger because a creature did not enter the battlefield. The land gained the card type "creature", but nothing entered the battlefield. A card or object entering the battlefield means that it came there from a different zone - manlands are just examples of a permanent gaining or losing a type while remaining the same permanent and never leaving the battlefield.
