Blight on fetch lands

Asked by Hunson_Abadeer 6 years ago

How would Blight interact when enchanting something like Flooded Strand?

Would the fetch be destroyed before being sac'd? Would they still pay 1 life?

And, obviously, also: would they be able to fetch for a land?

Blight wouldn't really do anything in this situation. Its ability will technically trigger while Flooded Strand is being activated, but by the time Blight's trigger is put onto the stack the cost of Flooded Strand's ability has already been completely paid (including the 1 life). Blight won't go back in time and cause the ability to be "un-activated". The player will still go fetch a land.

The key thing to know is that even though a triggered ability can trigger at any time, it waits to be put onto the stack until the next time a player would get priority to take another action. In this case it means we have to wait until the player is completely finished paying for the activated ability.

Thank you, Rhadamanthus!

I was under the impression that's how it would go but just wanted to be sure.

Great explanation as well
