Blazing Archon is on the battlefield and the game has three people in it. Can I attack another player with a creature (Alesha) and use her ability to put another creature on the battlefield tapped and attacking the player controlling Blazing Archon?

Some of the players reason that they are no longer something that a creature can actually attack. In this case, they're not talking about the act of declaring a creature as attacking but more that a creature can't be aimed at a say a land.

Yes you can. Blazing Archon's ability only stops creatures from being declared as an attacker, which happens as a turn-based action at the declare attackers step.
Alesha, Who Smiles at Death's ability triggers when she's declared as an attacker, and puts a creature into play attacking. This bypasses Blazing Archon's ability because the creature was never declared as an attacker.
In addition, Alesha, Who Smiles at Death's ability doesn't specify the creature being put in play has to attack a certain player, so you are perfectly allowed to put that creature into play attacking Blazing Archon's controller.
Just note that any "whenever this creature attacks..." Abilities won't trigger from the creature brought into play attacking.
