Black Sun's Zenith & the graveyard

Asked by Sudain 13 years ago

card:Black Sun's Zenith says shuffle it back into the deck. Does this mean it never touches the graveyard and so never triggers Energy Field ?

I'm saying yes, but I want to be sure. :)

im not shur theres no oracle ruleing yet

but there are 1 of 2 things that would happen,

1 it would resolve and go into the graveyard and then the shuffle into the library would trigger at the same time as energy field

2 (and i think more likely) when it resolves it gets shuffled into your librery insted of going into the graveyard and therefor never enters the graveyard and not triggering energy field

but for now you need someone to look up the rule book for a definent anwser, also the anwser may change over time

608.2k As the final part of an instant or sorcery spell's resolution, the spell is put into its owner's graveyard. As the final part of an abilitys resolution, the ability is removed from the stack and ceases to exist.

Based on this rule, it is determined that card:Black Sun's Zenith does not hit the graveyard. It is shuffled back in as part of its resolution, meaning that by the time it would have normally hit the yard, it will be in the deck instead.

Energy Field would not trigger.
