Balefire deathtouch
Asked by Randerolph91 12 years ago
If I were to give Balefire Dragon deathtouch, strike and hit my opponent, would the 6 damage it deals to every other creature on my opponents side of the field be deathtouch influenced?
Deathtouch, as I remember reading the wording last, only requires that the creature be the source of the damage, not that it has to be combat damage. Since Balefire Dragon is the source of the damage that it deals to all your opponent's creatures, then Deathtouch would apply.

Deathtouch affects all kinds of damage a source deals, not just combat damage. In a Standard environment from a couple years ago, there were decks that packed a Cunning Sparkmage - Basilisk Collar combo to exploit that fact.

You want something really awesome, go Balefire Dragon and Sword of Kaldra .

Note that if the creatures get dealt lethal damage, they'll die before the Sword's triggered ability exiles them.

Couldn't find myself the Sword of Kaldra but check the deck out anyways and please offer opinions and ideas for improvment. Thanks much everyone.

Yes it would. It comes down to it saying that 'it' does the damage to each creature that player controls.
