Artifact Creature Type

I have a feeling I already know the answer to this, but I want to make sure. When using a card such as Obelisk of Urd, can you declare "Artifact" as a creature type, and have all your artifact creatures gain the benefit? Or is Artifact Creature a supertype and you have to designate a subtype, such as Golem for Blightsteel Colossus?

artifact and creature are permanent types, or card types. neither are creature types, so no.

Artifact is not a supertype either.
205.4a A card can also have one or more supertypes. These are printed directly before its card types. The supertypes are basic, legendary, ongoing, snow, and world.
Artifact is merely a card type, as described below.
300.1. The card types are artifact, creature, enchantment, instant, land, phenomenon, plane, planeswalker, scheme, sorcery, tribal, and vanguard.
