Artful Dodge

Asked by fitzjmm 13 years ago

So if I cast it to make a creature unblockable, can I pay the flashback the same turn to make another creature that attack unblockable?

Yes. After Artful DodgeMTG Card: Artful Dodge resolves, the card is put into the graveyard. You can then cast it from the graveyard for its flashback cost, targeting another creature.

So if someone counters it and it goes to the graveyard, I can pay the flashback and put it on the stack over their counter? If so, then this card is awesome for my fling deck.

You can't respond to the counter with it for two reasons. The first is that Artful DodgeMTG Card: Artful Dodge is a sorcery. The second is that Artful DodgeMTG Card: Artful Dodge doesn't go the grave until either it is countered, at which point the counter has already resolved, or it resolves. When a spell is on the stack, its card has not yet gone to the graveyard. For example, when you play MulchMTG Card: Mulch, the lands go into hand, then the non land cards go into the grave, then MulchMTG Card: Mulch goes into the grave.

Ahhhh....thanks for the help. I'm still trying to learn this game. Both of my kids play and I'm mostly the deep pockets for them. I took them to a pre-release and since I was there I decided to give it a shot. I'm still learning. Totally didn't notice the sorcery bit.
