Armadillo Cloak and Unflinching Courage
Asked by LiquidKid 11 years ago
What is the difference between Armadillo Cloak and Unflinching Courage ? To me, they seem to do the same thing, but they happen to be worded differently....even the newer printing of Armadillo Cloak does not say lifelink...Am I missing something?
Ohhhhh no no wait nvm...I got it...took me a second.

Armadillo Cloak also has a triggered ability, whereas Unflinching Courage gives the creature a static ability. So if you were at 1 life and you had a 10/1 blocking a 4/4 trample, you would lose if your 10/1 was enchanted with the cloak, but you would survive if it was enchanted with unflinching courage.

I know this is very old, but I just wanted to add that the Cloak also stacks. If you have 2 Armadillo Cloak's on a creature, that create has +4/+4 and you gain 2 times the damage it does in life. If you have 2 Unflinching Courage's on a creature, it just has lifelink as it would when you had one of them on it. When you put Armadillo Cloak on a creature with lifelink, the lifegain also stacks (so you can combine Armadillo Cloak and Unflinching Courage). Add that to the fact that you can put the Cloak on an enemy's creature and its just a far better card.

Damage caused by a creature with lifelink causes the controller of the creature that dealt the damage to gain life.
Armadillo Cloak says whenever the enchanted creature deals damage YOU (meaning, the controller of Armadillo Cloak) gain the life.
Armadillo Cloak on an opponent's 3/3 means when it deals damage YOU gain 3 life. Unflinching Courage on an opponent's 3/3 means when it deals damage, THEY gain 3 life.
