i was curious if enchantments are considered to be auras? because i noticed in the newer set they had abilities targeting auras but the enchantments in the new set dont have the sub type aura.....

An aura is a type of enchantment. Basically for an enchantment to be an aura it has to say so. Or if you bestow (which is another new mechanic) a creature that creature is considered an aura for as long as it is enchanted on the creature you bestowed it on.

An Enchantment is an Aura if it specifically has the Aura subtype. For example: Madcap Skills is an Aura, but Intangible Virtue is not. A Bestow creature is only an Aura if it was cast for its Bestow cost and is currently attached to something. Otherwise, it's just a regular Enchantment.

303.4. Some enchantments have the subtype Aura. An Aura enters the battlefield attached to an object or player. What an Aura can be attached to is restricted by its enchant keyword ability (see rule 702.5, Enchant). Other effects can limit what a permanent can be enchanted by.

basically, an arua is an enchantment that enchants a specific object in the game such as a creature, artifact, another player etc.....if an enchantment is not attached to something, it is not a aura.......I can not think of any enchantments that are not aura when they are attached to an object.....

for Eidolon of Countless Battles it counts itself only once no matter how it is cast cause it is either a creature or an aura, never both........
