Archangel Avacyn

This one I think they got right but I should ask based on the answer for "To the slaughter". This one is a stack question as a response to my casting Archangel Avacyn to prevent the destruction of another creature I had in play, the other player cast another damage causing instant to destroy that creature before Avacyn entered the battlefield there by killing my creature. I believe that was the right call.

That is correct. There are actually a few opportunities to destroy a creature on the turn Archangel Avacyn  ^Flip comes out. If they cast a spell to do lethal damage in response to Avacyn, or in response to her ETB effect then the creature will be destroyed before the ETB resolves giving your creatures indestructible.
