Angel's Feather
Asked by rainskystar 13 years ago
If Angel's Feather is already into play, I cast a white spell, but it is countered, do I still receive the point of life?

I'm going to politely decline and say no. Based on the stack it would go Counter, Angels Feather, then Spell. causing angels feather not to trigger.
The reason is because a counter is an interrupt putting itself first on the stack.

I'm not familiar with the very old rules, but I believe that is how the Interrupt card type worked back in the day. However, Interrupt has not been a card type for quite a long time, and that is not how the current rules work.
The white spell is cast, and before anyone receives priority, all applicable triggered abilities are put onto the stack. There is no way to counter the spell before the Angel's Feather ability is placed on the stack. Once on the stack, the ability is an independent object, and neither removal of the source of the ability nor what caused it to trigger will affect it
You cannot interrupt the casting of a spell, the activation of an ability, or the triggering of an ability. Once a white spell is cast, there is no way to prevent the triggered ability of Angel's Feather from resolving, short of directly countering it (Stifle & co.)

Interrupt and Instant are the same thing, just with different wording.
You are right however, just did some light research into it. Any card that has a "cast" ability hits the stack first before it resolves.
a good example is Artisan of Kozilek when you cast it a creature from your graveyard is returned to the battlefield before it resolves and enters the battlefield.
so even if it was countered it's ability still resolves.

I have only been playing for about 6 months now, so the wording I use may not be proper usage, but I will try my best. The card:Angel's Feather was already in the stack. The cast that I made was for a creature on the next turn that was countered. The discussion at the table was am I allowed to receive the one point of life because the creature did not resolve, but it was cast.
On another note are either one of you familiar with card:Praetor's Grasp? I have read a few discussions on this card, but not real sure which is the right answer, or how to play this card properly.

Countering a spell does not un-cast it, so yes, you will still gain the life.
