Ambush Commanderfoil and summoning sickness

Asked by ZarBluestar 11 years ago

If I had Ambush Commander on the battlefield, and I played a forest, would the forest be able to attack, or would it only be able to be tapped for mana the first turn it comes out?

Neither. As creatures, they suffer the full effect of summoning sickness, and cannot tap for any reason if they have not been under your control since upkeep and do not have haste.

@raithe000: That's not wholly accurate.

Summoning sickness means three things. A creature with summoning sickness can't

  1. Attack
  2. Be tapped to activate one of its activated abilities with a tap symbol in its activation cost
  3. Be untapped to activate one of its activated abilities with an untap symbol in its activation cost.

Creatures with summoning sickness can still be tapped or untapped for abilities that don't use the tap or untap symbol (ex. Azami, Lady of Scrolls ).
