Feature Suggestion: Custom Gear Store

TappedOut forum

No, this is not tappedout related custom gear store stuff (though it would be an excellent place for yeago to dump stuff into), it is much more community oriented.

Since yeago recently implemented the "community" section of the site, and with more users posting their creations for sale on the gear forum, I thought it would be an awesome thing to have our own user generated store like a mini-etsy where users can put stuff they created up here for sale.

The biggest reason for this is that the users who put threads in the gear forum don't nearly get the attention that they should be, and certain products would be a lot harder to sell on ebay, amazon or etsy (like non-commissioned alters or 3D life checkers).

This would let users who sell special mtg accessories to expand their customer base to the members of this site, and certainly give this site much more credibility over other sites in our contribution to the MTG community as a whole.

Thoughts and opinions? The biggest thing going against this that I see is the sort of "buyer/seller protection" that the sites that are devoted to this sort of thing (ebay, amazon etc) have.

I love it!

You could use it to commision someone for an alter as well?

I think that could be a nightmare if this site had to organise that.

Maybe links could be made to eBay/esty sites set up by users?

It would probably be easiest to have users allow Tapped Out pull data from their Etsy pages.

So within the community section of our site, have a store page that pulls from user's Etsy pages.

Now how would that look like?

It would probably contain:

  • Description field
  • Photo field
  • Price field
  • Link to the Etsy page

Maybe a couple of other things for users to comment (and upvote?).
