I'm trying to make a dwarf tribal deck but can't add like 1/2 of the cards to the deck list as they have Dwarven in the name but the site says that's not a word? Dwarf is fine but Dwarven is not? Can the devs pls fix this?

Dwarven Mine

Not sure what issue you're running into but the site doesn't do any spell checking

I am having no issues locating cards starting with “Dwarven” in the deck builder, so I do not think it is a site problem.

With the major caveat that I am an etymology nerd, not a computer or tech person, I expect it might be an issue with your browser’s spell check. Dwarven is, in fact, a misspelling that has since been canonised within fantasy.

Properly speaking, the English word would be Dwarfen (which is also so rare as some spell checks take issues with it). The V in words like Dwarves or Dearven comes from “a piece of private bad grammar” created by J.R.R. Tolkien (quote his own). Tolkien was not found of how Dwarf was made plural in modern English as it did not follow the plural form of of its etymology. He figured something like Dwarrows would be more linguistically appropriate - but liked the “-ves” synergy of “Elves” and “Dwarves” and decided to just make up a new set of words like Dwarves and Dwarven.

Those versions are now recognised as proper words by the Oxford English Dictionary within the context of fantasy writing, but are generally not seen as the correct way of writing outside of the fantasy context.

As such, your browser might still get upset if you write “dwarven” and try to auto correct you or otherwise cause issues.
