The story for Innistrad: Midnight Hunt has begun!

I definitely enjoyed today’s story, and I feel that it is moving at a perfect pace, this time; not too fast, and not too slow, but I shall withhold and praise until more chapters are posted. Given that there shall be two consecutive Innistrad sets, there should be twice the usual number of stories, so I am pleased about that.

This is now the third visit to Innistrad, and this is the first time that the Celestus and Moonsilver Key have ever been mentioned, so I wonder what the in-universe explanation shall be for them having never been mentioned, before (the obvious out-of-universe explanation is that the writers had not conceived those elements before now).

Apparently, Tovolar and Arlinn are enemies, so I wonder what caused the animosity between them? I imagine that that shall be explained, very soon.

I thought both this and the side-story were quite good - a far sight better than many of the other stories. This is the first time in a while where I have actually wanted to keep reading, rather than feel forced to.

As for why those landmarks were never mentioned before, I don’t think that requires an explanation. After all, we don’t question why Oscar Wilde doesn’t include a mention of Stonehenge in The Picture of Dorian Grey - sure, the rather important site sits only 90 miles from where much of the story takes place, but it’s not relevant to the story so there was no reason to mention it.

Both stories were great. Wrenn is my new favorite Planeswalker. I think the answer to your question was in the story. The celestus wasn't mentioned because it's purpose was largely forgotten and replaced by avacyn. I imagine to most it was just weird scary crap in the woods

Rather than start a new thread, here is a link to Tangles, the first sidestory of this set.

I am surprised that a planeswalker as old as Teferi has never been to Innistrad, before, but not every pre-mending planeswalker has been to every plane, so that is not a major annoyance.

It is inevitable that a spellcaster's magic would become tangled, on occasion, but I also thought that a mage of Teferi's age and experience would either not suffer that problem or else be able to untangle his own spells.

The story did not reveal why Teferi was on Innistrad, in the first place, so I hope that that is revealed, soon, and is that the full extent of Wrenn's involvement in the story? If so, what was even the point of her being in the story, at all?

I got two main takeaway points from Tangled:

1) We got to actually meet Wrenn and get a description of how her bonds with treefolk work. There was a lot to learn about her contained in one short story.

2) Wrenn met Teferi and together they discovered a method by which they might be able to restore Zhalfir. Dominaria sure would be united if they succeeeded, wouldn't it?

Even if those two points are the entire purpose for Wrenn's presence on Innistrad, I think they're worthwhile.
