Will WotC Ever Repair the Comments on the Gatherer?

For quite some time, now, users have been unable to post new comments on cards on the Gatherer, which greatly displeases me, since I enjoy reading those comments, and there are now many sets' worth of cards that have no comments.

Why is it taking WotC so long to repair the comments section of the gatherer? Will they ever fix it? What does everyone else here say about this?

Good question. Who knows? Wizards customer service hasn't been on their A-game since at least the release of Modern Masters 2015.

The comments section isn't really broken so much as its just disabled. WoTC has decided they don't want to allow comments, because comment sections require moderators, lead to people being stupid/childish, and Wizards basically just doesn't want to deal with it.

Fair enough, indeed. To that policy, though, I say "why even have a viewable section for comments at all?" If they're going to do away with them, they should delete the pages or at least take them off of the publicly viewable versions. It's kind of confusing otherwise.

I think they basically just said, all of the stuff that's up there is fine and we're going to leave it, but going forward we're disabling it because we don't want to deal with it. So they left us the old comments but won't allow new ones.

I think you're right.

Was there an actual announcement about this?

It's truly a shame, because there were some great comments. One of my favorites was one on Emrakul talking about how you could make him into Captain Planet or something...

That sucks. Million dollar company cba to hire a moderator or accept the no doubt dozens(hundreds?) of people who would do it for free. Nah, might as well kill the whole comments section and remove a whole area of their player bases ability to discuss cards. Seems legit...

I feel you, RoarMaster. Seems super lazy. The company has been making some weird decisions lately.

I personally loved the comments as others would often share combos or other synergetic cards. Tis a shame.
