Why Has WotC Changed the Manner in Which they Announce Sets?

When I first began to play MtG in 2003, WotC would announce new sets or other products in articles on their website, announce only a single product at a time, and make such announcements seemingly at random, but, recently, they now announce new products in a video, announce products only once per year, and announce all products for the upcoming year, which I severely dislike, since I found the previous manner to be better at building anticipation for the upcoming products, because announcing all products for the upcoming year means that players shall forget about some of them, before they are released, so I am wondering why WotC decided to change the manner in which they announce new products.

What does everyone else say, about this? Why did WotC change the manner in which they announce new sets or other products? I certainly am interested to hear your thoughts, on this matter.

Marketing constantly evolves to meet new trends in media, technology, etc. I think pretty much every major corporation has changed how they announce new product rollouts, especially in the window of the past 22 years. What worked in 2003 might not be as effective or relevant in 2025. As a singular example, the internet of 2025 is vastly different from 2003, especially as a tool for advertising and consumer consumption. Although companies may have their primary websites, they also utilize an array of social media platforms and paid partnerships with content creators as an added dimension of ad campaigns.

Yes, WotC typically does a few "Big Tent" announcements of upcoming products for the year at key events like MagicCon, but they also do "reminder" announcements across their platforms, especially as the product drop nears. I guess it depends on which platforms you primarily consume your MtG media, as I feel like there's a steady stream of announcements & reminders of upcoming products from their "big tent" reveals.

TL;DR - Advertising evolves and these companies now have all kinds of social media platforms to use as advertising appendages.

So I'm just going to let you know I only read the headline.

The answer is instant gratification

It makes the players feel better and get more excited when they show new shit especially if it's really good
