Undead Alchemist Vs. Fog

Undead alchemist is a milling card, and doesn't do direct damage to a player or creatures...and I just recently had a game where a fog was played against my alchemist and the attackers. Would fog still work to prevent ALL the milling that turn, I'm not sure because the card says prevents all damage, but milling isn't direct damage.
Help!

Fog prevents all combat damage that would be dealt during the turn in which it was cast. Undead Alchemist states that if a zombie you control would deal combat damage to a player, they mill that many cards instead.
For Undead Alchemist to work, a zombie you control would have to be able to deal combat damage to a player. This can't happen because Fog's effect is preventing all combat damage this turn. It doesn't matter that the zombie won't actually be dealing damage, it still needs to be able to for Undead Alchemist's replacement effect to replace that combat damage with a mill effect.
Also, your zombies will still deal damage to nonplayer object such as creatures or planeswalkers.

At least, I believe this to be the case. I'm off to consult the rulebook...

615.6. If damage that would be dealt is prevented, it never happens. A modified event may occur instead, which may in turn trigger abilities. Note that the modified event may contain instructions that can't be carried out, in which case the impossible instruction is simply ignored.
616.1. If two or more replacement and/or prevention effects are attempting to modify the way an event affects an object or player, the affected object's controller (or its owner if it has no controller) or the affected player chooses one to apply, following the steps listed below. If two or more players have to make these choices at the same time, choices are made in APNAP order (see rule 101.4).
In accordance with 616.1, your opponent will choose which replacement/prevention effect to apply. If he or she chooses to apply Fog 's effect, then combat damage will be prevented and you won't mill anything. If he or she chooses to apply Undead Alchemist 's effect, then combat damage will still be prevented, but this time it is prevented because of Undead Alchemist's ability and the opponent will mill the appropriate number of cards.

Undead Alchemist
says that instead of dealing the damage you make them mill. To my knowledge fog only stops damage/infect going though. But because you aren't dealing actual damage Fog
would have no effect on the mill.
