So i'm making this EDH deck Esper Proliferate EDH (hehe, cheap advertisement). And i was wondering, if for the purpose of Proliferate, life was considered as a counter?

Nope. Proliferate does not affect your life total.

No. Life is not a counter. Counter refers to +1/+1 counters, -1/-1 counters, or other counters created by specific cards (like "quest" counters on Quest for the Goblin Lord ).

Well i was confused about that, because i do hear the expession ''life counters'' and since infect is a counter placed on a player, maybe life wouldve been considered one too.

Thanks for the answers.

It can also refer to poison counters "on" a player.

Also, rules questions like this belongs in the Q&A section, just for future reference.

"Life counters" don't exist. Life is simply a total.

Life counters do exist, in the form of things that count life totals, like spin down dice.

However, proliferate does not affect them, as stated.
