I know Dark Confidant is an insane card. But why does it see play over Phyrexian Arena . Cause the arena, will usually cost you less life and you don't have to reveal. But i'm obviously wrong because the Confidant is 40$ and Arena is 4$. Please explain. Thanks

confidant can attack, and gets around anything that says you cant draw.

Dark confidant being an aggressively costed creature means he's more relevant in real games of magic. Since he can attack, you can 'win the race' and not lose to his ability. You can also kill him more easily than you could an enchantment, also equating to losing to his a ability less often.

but the race is more of "wildcard" type situation with the DC.. depending on your deck. you could lose 6 or 0 if u get a land. the 1 life is more consistant. first turn arena with Dark ritual gives your self a 20 turn countdown. Plus things like Brainstorm OWN with the DC.
