Activated Ability Question

Lets say I attack wih both a Moltensteel Dragon and a Furnace Whelp and I have 5 untapped mana and my opponent can only block one, so he chooses the Moltensteel Dragon , can i then pump the furnace whelp with 5 mana as the damage goes through or is this incredibly erroneous. thank you.
Yes, you can. The declare blockers step starts with declaring blockers. After that action has been taken, each player starting with the active player gains priority. When you receive your priority, right after he declared the blockers, you may activate Dragon Whelp's ability as many times as you wish. Then, your opponent may respond by casting a spell or activating abilities of their own.

Yes you can after he declares blockers you get priority. Still relatively new so you should wait for someone to elaborate.
