Obviously the triggered or static abilities should speak to the card's functions as a planeswalker. For example:

Nyarl Tholptec BBB
Planewalker - Tholptec
Whenever a creature dies, put a loyalty counter on Nyarl Tholptec
(0): Put a -1/-1 counter on target creature.
(-2): Target player discards two cards at random.
(-4): Each player sacrifices two nonland permanents.

If feel like the choice of playing a planeswalker and how to interact with it should always give a large degree of agency to the player who cast it. I fear a static or triggered ability, although cool because of novelty, would not be very satisfying to use for a large portion of the playerbase.

It would be too easy to abuse. Board wipe followed by you forcing your opponent to discard their hand. Ensuring loyalty counters can only be added in an fixed amount each turn allows for better balance.

Seems broken. I don't like that it can Hymn to Tourach someone and survive.

Maybe a static of whenever more than one creature dies in a turn put a loyalty counter on ~
Has the same feel but not OP

Good points, Badhand. I'll try to think of one where the static/triggered ability doesn't alter the number of loyalty counters. Maybe something that interacts with the activated abilities, or something defensive. As for this card, I'll just up the cost to five to delay the board wipe combo and leave it be.

Its an interesting idea Aneximines but passive activated abilities are more in line with an enchantment that does one thing then a planeswalker that does several. I'm not saying it cant be done but the balance would be tricky. There are planeswalkers that can put emblems into play that provide passive boosts like Sorin, Lord of Innistrad 's second ability.

I see you have magic set editor so why is the card not in planeswalker format there is a setting for that you know in the style section.
But nice idea regardless :3
