What plane do you not want to return to?

Everyone always talks about what planes they liked but we never here about planes people didn't like. So let's talk about those. It can because it was good the first time and bad on the return. It can be because it has format warping cards. It can be because it was a bad standard or even if it's your ex's favorite plane.

For me its theros. I'm not big on the flavor and other then devotion and gods there aren't many cards that excite me

Let's avoid Kaldheim, shall we?

I like the Amonkhet and Theros gods far more than the ones of this plane, and there isn't a whole lot else cool besides the odd red counterspell. So... yeeah.

New Phyrexia.

Like lore? We'll give you a hot mess that is internally inconsistent and leaves a bunch of questions unnecessarily unanswered. Like Phyrexia? What if we remove all the elements of classic Phyrexia and try to make them more personable. Like balanced mechanics? How about we give you Infect and Phyrexian mana?

I personally hope Karn is successful in his mission to completely destroy New Phyrexia, and Ashiok finds the bastion of old Phyrexia from Elspeth's childhood (which they are currently seeking). Let's wipe the slate clean and get back to Phyrexia's basics.

Probably ravnica for me. Were up to 3 visits. And having been on ravnica for three sets in a row the last time just felt like a drag.

The thing that made ravnica exciting when it premiered (well before my time) was the uniqueness of the world and the multicoloredness of it. In present day multicolorness is everywhere so having a world dedicated to all ten guilds is kinda meh to me.

And for me the flavor for the colors is a lot more exciting for kaldheim than it is for ravnica. So I rather just see other world's than ravnica

Im gonna say Theros. I REALLY liked OG Theros block, i think it was incredibly full of flavor, the gods were really powerful and good commanders, and had nothing but potential.

Then they took a fat runny taco bell dump over everything with Theros Beyond Death. The cards were uninspired, the mechanics were incredibly bland, and we only got 7 gods out of that set, with only two of them being decent. Biggest let down of 2020 IMO, and i dont trust them for round 3

Ixalan - Vampire and Merfolk tribal is nice, but Pirate and Dinosaur tribal will always be incredibly limited and I feel like other planes do tribal groups better.

I don’t like explore, because any mechanic that self-mills you feels bad.

I don’t mind double-faced cards, but getting fancy lands on flip always felt like a downgrade than an upgrade.

Treasure tokens are nice especially for EDH against mana denial decks, yet they’re still being added in just about every other set making a return to Ixalan seem irrelevant if you want more treasure cards and I dislike it when they make a functional reprint of a preexisting card, but they make it cost one more just to produce a treasure token.

Raid I’ve found to be an incredibly limiting mechanic. Boast and Vehicles kind of help fix the problem, but honestly I’d rather avoid any trigger that heavily depends on attacking as you’ll get punished with having a vanilla creature if you don’t.

The city’s blessing is the only aspect I like, but that’s only for EDH reasons and that mechanic feels very steep for other eternal formats at least in the early game where it really matters most.

The other plane would be Tarkir. I loved the three color pairings in it, but then they decided to remove all of it and make it about dragons as if that was an upgrade to the plane. Dragon is probably my least favorite creature type now because of it and unless they plan to make a return to Khans-only I really want nothing to do with the plane.

GenericToaster Not going to lie, I had forgotten that TBD had come out in 2020 at this point... it feels like longer ago.

US Airways Flight 1549, worst plane ever. Would prefer not to return.

StopShot you must not play a lot of black if you like self mill huh? Also you don't have to mill the card

@shadow63 Black is one of the main colors I play, but I primarily play infinite combos that utilize enchantments/artifacts to go off and those types of cards usually serve me little purpose being in my graveyard. Explore also has a ton of reminder text which eats up card space I'd rather have utilized for other more relevant abilities that suit my particular playstyle better.
