Twenty Years Since High School Graduation!

This year (and, more specifically, this May) marks twenty years since I graduated from high school, and I honestly cannot believe that that much time has passed since that time of my life, and so much has changed since then; at that time, I was uncertain of the direction in which I wished to take my life, but I now am living my best life; I have an excellent job, I have several wonderful circles of friends, and I have finally found a serious girlfriend! The only thing that I currently do not have is my own house, but I hope to have that soon, as well.

When I was younger, my social skills were not nearly as good as they are, now; I was rather nervous about being in large crowds and/or unfamiliar situations, but I was able to gradually improve, through effort and determination, plus assistance from my parents, teachers, and psychologist, as well. That portion of my life was one of great growth and discovery, about both the world and myself, so I certainly did my best to not only acquire new knowledge, but also develop my ability to interact with others and learn how to be comfortable in unfamiliar situations or settings.

I made many friends during my years in high school, and I have lost contact with some of them, but I remain good friends with most of them, and we do still occasionally reminisce about our time in high school. For the tenth anniversary of my graduation from high school, I contacted as many of my former classmates as I could and invited them out to a bowling alley for dinner, but, for my twentieth anniversary, I likely shall not bother, with that, and instead simply invite the friends with whom I am still in contact to have dinner at a nice restaurant., where we can reminisce about our years in school, and how much time has passed, and we have changed, since then.

I imagine that other people who graduated from high school several decades ago also may reminisce about it, on occasion, and also marvel at how much time has passed, since then, so I certainly am interested to hear anyone else share stories of their memories of high school, and of how greatly the world has changed, since they graduated!

Congratulations! You have a good plan for your twentieth.

My most recent high school reunion was kind of a mess. The organizers rented out the park by a local brewery, but only one person out of every ten who RSVP'ed actually showed up, so there was a bunch of empty space and awkwardness. Everyone just kind of gave up after a couple hours, and I and a few others went to a friend's house and spent the night gaming.

I wasn't one of the super popular high school kids, but I got along with everyone, pretty much. I only really kept in touch with a few people, and that ended when one of them made some less than savory decisions. So I don't really have a strong connection to my time in high school. Is it better to reach out to people you knew and liked that long ago but never stayed in touch with afterward, or just let life move on?
