This was at a small event held at a local game store. Casual in spirit, but not too much either. Here's how it went.
Match 1 :
Edgar Markov (Tribal Aggro)
0 - 3
Is there any surprise here? Too fast to race against this deck. Heck, we had the time to play a third round for fun.
Match 2 :
Samut, Voice of Dissent (Midrange Combo)
2 - 1
Interesting deck. Best exert creatures, bunch of good midrange cards and at least a combo. Still, Omnath was able to handle it.
Match 3 :
Omanth, Locus of Rage (Ramp Combo)
0 - 2
A very though match-up against. Lots of answers and cards that put a lot of pressure. Topple that with dangerous combos and you have strong deck to fight against.
Match 4 :
Unknown (The opponent had left the tournament)
Victory by default
Yay, a free victory? Not as satisfying as a true one, but... Hey, I was able to get higher in the classement and get a better price.
Macth 5 :
Mikaeus, the Unhallowed (Combo)
1 - 1
Had the time to play a short game with someone who also had his last opponent leaving. A very interesting decks that wants to degenerate into infinite combos. Was taking by surprise in the first round, but was able to outrun it in the second. We didn't had time to settle down for the decisive match, sadly!
Results : 3rd Place
Was surprised to end up so high. I know very well that my 4th free win is the main reason why I wasn't lower in the list. However, I wasn't the only one the same thing has happened to him. Also, there's been at least two players who won by total domination. All of this tells me that I wasn't the best, but I was able to old out on my own without being utterly crushed. So the deck was in the middle, which is very good starting point, in my opinion!
So, expect a few udpates like these, since there will be similar tournament each months and I will attend them.
