1st place FNM —April 5, 2014

FNM 4-4-14

I went 8-0 1st place.

Top 8

first match - grixis control. I took it 2-1. I lost to an ashiok that went unchecked. Ouch. but I came back in game 3 it was a fun match.

second match - R/W/B midrange. I took it 2-0, my deck was just too fast for his 5 drops and elspeth. Skullcrack did work against his lifegain.

Top 2 - Esper control. This was a tough match, he's a really good player, but after sideboard I took it 2-1. Erebos and rakdos's return are gamebreakers in this match.

No, he isn't very competitive. Desecration demon takes his place.

well desecration demon has obviously been the main strongarm in competitive decks, especially mono-black, but tell me why desecration demon is any better than Rakdos, Lord of Riots in a r/b deck? i would do him at least as a 2 of.

Rakdos, Lord of Riots has a drawback of " you can't cast rakdos lord or riots unless an opponent lost life this turn" while Desecration Demon does not. Also, desecration demon is much easier to cast only requiring 2 black symbols and 2 colorless, not the very specific 2 black 2 red that rakdos has.

Rakdos, Lord of Riots forces you to do things you may not want to do to cast him and is useless when you're behind (because in that case you probably can't cast him). The same is not true for D.Demon
