Been a while... —Jan. 23, 2014

So it has been almost a year since I first uploaded this deck idea on here. Since then I have tweeked and adjusted. Now in it's current form it has seen some serious playtime, although only recreationally, not in tournament or FNM play.

And I just have to say, this Angel deck is a beast! Nearly undeafted, it has held up nicely and is probably the most powerful deck I have crafted to date. There are a few weaknesses, as it tends have a little trouble against mill decks, or enchantments that prevent any life gain. But all in all, I am very proud of this deck. I often find myself winning games with close to (if not over) 100 life.

Still, I am trying to get this deck ready for Modern tournament play as I am prepping to attend a Grand Prix, and some of the cards are not legal (5th Editions, Tempest, Portal). As I remove illegal cards, I am hoping to add in some Angelic Accord and Soulmender.

But I was curious if anyone had any suggestions for low mana cost creatures, preferably with Angel theme (or Human) that had some benefit such as life gain, extort, or things of that nature.

Suggestions are greatly appreciated and all feedback is respected.

After reevaluating the deck: At first I was having Mana draw problems, so I added 5 more plains to make it 25. Mana is no longer a problem, but I am having problems getting on the board. My lowest creatures can't come out till at least 4 mana. Anyone know of any low mana Angel creatures? Keep in mind I would eventually like to craft this deck for Standard play, so I will be able to make room by removing cards that won't be valid for Standard. My thought process, aside from theme, was to use +health abilities and controls like Pacifism to keep my health up and the opponent at bay until I had enough Mana to get my Angelic Army onto the battlefield and then (excuse the pun) unleash hell. But after a few test draws and such, I think I will end up discarding cards to early cause I can't unload my hand due to expensive cards. Looking for suggestions. Thanks.
