Hello! I'm nagonjin, and I'm a fairly casual Magic player. I don't play a lot of Magic these days, as I'm obsessed with D&D.

Probably due to the nostalgia of my earliest Magic games, I really enjoy the socialization and friendly strategic competition of magic, which is probably why my favorite format is EDH/ Commander.

I love silly, synergistic interactions and will often sacrifice a bit of competitive efficiency for the chance to do something wacky. Most importantly, I want my decks to be highly flavorful and thematic often with elaborate 'story lines' or non-victory motives. One of the aspects that I prize in the format is board state novelty, or the chance to build or interact with something new each game, which is facilitated by the singleton and multiplayer nature of the format.

Mechanically and flavorfully, Black is my current favorite color to play with(close second/third - Green & Blue). I love the themes of stack graveyard manipulation, alternative wincons (e.g. 'Mill'), Attrition strategies (sacrifice, discard, tempo). Consequently, my favorite strategic archetype is Control, and most of my decks will inevitably have some of these elements.

I built my first kitchen table decks in middle school while playing with Kamigawa, Mirrodin, and Ravnica cards. My first and favorite EDH deck is Lazav, Dimir Mastermind, because Ravnica is by far my favorite plane. Other favorite settings for nostalgic reasons are Mirrodin and Lorwyn. In school, my favorite archetypes were elves, slivers, burn, and Rakdos discard.
