Bog Titan

Creature - Giant

Whenever ~ enters the battlefield or attacks, place a Mire Counter on a target land. Lands with Mire Counters on them become Swamps and "Whenever this land becomes tapped, you lose 2 life for each Mire counter on it."

5/5

"A bog is mired in death, decay and regrowth. Death is not a end, but a beginning to an end."

A Smaller, weaker variant of a Titan, more akin to an Elemental, now that I think about it. But, maybe this will set a decent predicate for a template! Also, I like the idea of incorporating a very niche card alongside it, like Cyclopean Tomb for this one!

Whenever one or more tokens are created under an opponent's control for the first time each turn, you create that mana 3/1 black elemental creature tokens.

+1 Sacrifice any number of tokens you control. Put X loyalty counters on ~, where X is thenumberoftokens you sacrificed.

-2 Target player creates three treasure tokens. If this ability targets an opponent, those tokens enter tapped.

lXTensionXl on Will Copying a Spell Cause …

Gidgetimer I was going off your 1st response where you said the combination of his -2, Lightning Bolt, and Fork would only trigger his passive 3 times. I'm still pretty new to MTG, and thought that it should trigger his passive 4 times. I was thinking possibly a 5th because of when you get the copy of Lightning Bolt from casting Fork, and then you cast it. But I guess it wouldn't be considered a cast if it was a copy that was created and placed on the stack?

So in my mind, it would be:

  1. Active his -2 ability
  2. Cast Lightning Bolt (1st trigger)
  3. A copy is made from his -2 ability (2nd trigger)
  4. Cast Fork that targets Lightning Bolt (3rd trigger)
  5. A copy is made of Lightning Bolt by Fork (4th trigger)
  6. My questionable 5th trigger was then "casting" Lightning Bolt after the copy is made

Hi, thanks for the comment. I am still testing the deck, and i am not sure myself if this is ok or not. :D I think it doesn't need a lot of removal. You build up your mana engine or draw engine and than end the game with finale of Devastation/craterhoof. This can go really fast. However i will playtest this weekend and than reply again how it went.

DMFF on Black and White Soul Sisters …

Firstly, welcome to the MTG community! Modern is definitely a more hostile format, but Soul Sisters can hold their own, especially in Orzhov. One of my close friends in my "close friends playgroup" built his own rendition of Orzhov Soul Sisters as well and it can certainly give any aggro deck a run for its money. Since Lifegain is more of a Control-esque strategy, I do have a few suggestions for your main and side:

Main: - Fatal Push, Solitude (ik a little more expensive, but so so good), or Path to Exile for cheap/"free" removal of onboard threats. I would cut 2-3 copies of March of Otherworldly Light since it requires more resources, but can be great in the mid/late game.

  • Guide of Souls, the new Soul Brother! (It could be called Soul Siblings!) This card is a more powerful version of the Soul Sisters, so I definitely recommend running 4x of this card once it drops in MH3. I would drop the 4x Auriok Champion for this due to the lower mana cost and higher power level.

  • Thoughtseize is a great handrip card and the -2 life is barely noticeable in your build. Until you pick up any copies, I would move Inquisition of Kozilek into your main board for better control and knowledge of your opponent's gameplan right from game 1. I would also suggest a combination of both of these cards in your mainboard to equal 6 total. My wife runs 3 of each in her own rendition of the meta Yawgmoth deck.

  • I would cut the Ghost Quarters for Field of Ruin, reduce them to 2 or 3 copies and move them to your mainboard, cutting some basic lands. My wife actually runs this in her mainboard to mess with greedy manabases to great success.

Side: - Having both Sanctifier en-Vec & Rest in Peace is a bit redundant. I would personally cut them both and replace with 3 or 4 Leyline of the Void to have a good chance of hurting Graveyard strategies before turn 1 even starts. Keep all the Surgical Extractions in though because it is great targeted GY removal that can outright cripple decks.

Hopefully this will be helpful for you, let me know if you have any questions!

So my understanding is this:

An Elemental is a "living" creature, naturally made from the world around it such as fire, sand, wind, water, plant matter, carrion, etc. Its when (in our case) the Leylines breathe life into substance and form beings capable of thought and independence. These would NOT be considered "Artifact Creatures".

A Construct is wholly artificial, made with deep and rich magics and technology, usually made out of metal and stone. They can be truly autonomous or designed for specific commands and functions. These would be considered "Artifact Creatures"

Meanwhile a Golem is a religious craft, typically made out of clay or otherwise softer stone. It is usually created to guard areas, and responds directly toward its master. It will protect its area from anything it is told to consider a threat, making them prime guardians that can last for centuries. These COULD BE considered "Artifact Creatures", depending on their composition and more importantly HOW they were made; E.G. religious magics, or technology.

Ancient Golem

Creature - Golem

First strike, defender

As you cast Ancient Golem, you may pay up to less to cast it. If you do, it gains Suspend X where X is the amount of mana you reduced its casting cost by.

Ancient Golem enters the battlefield with X +1/+1 counters where X is the number of turns it was Suspended.

3/3

In other words, you could cast it for just and it would gain Suspend 5, then enter with five +1/+1 counters making it an 8/8, which would be ideal for longer games such as Draft, Two Headed Giant and Commander.

How about this; Let's see a Planeswalker with four loyalty abilities, focused around making different Elementals.

Niko9 on Star Wars, Episode I: the …

The Phantom Menace is probably my favorite of the prequels, and maybe part of that is that it was kind of nuts to watch in theatres when it first came out, but I think the prequels in general have aged well even if they have their flaws. I mean, their better than Star Wars fanfic, which is a lot more than I can say for the Disney ones where I'd actually rather read archive of our own : )

I remember seeing The Phantom Menace for the first time, and I really didn't pay any attention to miticlorians or trade agreements or whatever really, mostly because what you left the theatre thinking was, wow, that's a lightsaber battle. I never saw a fast and acrobatic lightsaber fight until The Phantom Menace, and it was so cool to see the first time, and the music was great, and the layers to the fight were amazing, it was truly special.

Phantom Menace might be my favorite of the prequels just because it comes with the least bloat in the plot. It's pretty much a "heroes in the right place at the right time" story, and that's okay. I think as the prequels went on they really got bogged down by George Lucas having spent so much time drafting the story. After a while, so many little things become uncuttable in your mind, and Lucas wanted to also appeal to everyone, kids, adults, toy companies, old fans, new fans...I mean, the original movies were made in a bubble of, let's make the movie we want to, and the prequels were made in a much different bubble, and it shows.

The prequels could have been something really amazing, but they ended up just being, pretty goodish. Rogue One showed what you can do with a tight story, good special effects, and the star wars dry rub on it, and it was kinda great. If the prequels had done it similar and just told the story of Aniken, or just told the story of Palpetine, they would have been so much more directed. Palps is maybe the greatest movie villain and he gets very little time in the story. Like, the way he enacts his plan of, lets create a problem for the jedi but also give them an easy answer so that they don't even try to find their own answer, that's insanely good. That's like real life corporate villainy, and it's so scary to see a bad guy be that manipulative.

Maybe my view on the prequels is pretty simple, they have brief moments that are hands down the best in all of star wars, but there is so much filler and dry narrative, and odd choices. Like, we can sit down to talk about trade agreements, but we can't have a scene actually showing what Padme sees in Aniken, or a scene to explain that he is emotionally stunted from his training and is feeling things he can't deal with.

Also, and maybe a small nitpick, but lightsabering a village was way, way too far : ) We were supposed to get a crack in the door for Any, not an express elevator ride right to the dark side. Watching something like The Clone Wars was like, yeah, but this is the same guy who destroyed a village, so...

I overall really like the prequels, I kind of wish they could have had a better process, more people involved in the writing, but ultimately they have some super fun moments.

None of the scenarios above asked about the -2 and Fork. This scenario would indeed trigger Ral, Storm Conduit 4 times. (casting Lightning Bolt and Fork and copies made from -2 and from Fork).

I'm not sure where you are getting five triggers from. Are you wondering about -2, Fork, and Riku of Two Reflections? Because at that point the best strategic choice is just to copy the Fork instead of the Lightning Bolt with Riku and just make infinite copies by forking your Fork repeatedly.

ShadowMasterNL oh yes tablet of completion could definetly go on the cut list you are right! Will remove to add archfiend of despair for sure. ( and yes to the heavy artifacts play groups lmao. I often play against Urza, Chief Artificer )

And also, yes i'm ok with the double edge sword that is Infernal Darkness. I would use it probably when i know i have more than enough swamps to not worry about doubling it for a while. But i'm also betting that opponents will target it first for removal leaving me the opportunity to tutor a combo.

ShadowMasterNL on The apocalypse (Sheoldred)

I see, tablet of completion seems completely useless here you should cut it for the archfiend of despair. So karn is only useful when youre in an artifact heavy playgroup, which im guessing youre in then hahah. Do note that infernal darkness also shuts down your own coffers/nykhthos/phyrexiantower but im guessing youre okay with that hahah. (did not see any nonbasic synergy, cut command tower for a swamp? since you have swamp/basic synergy?)

Also, forgot to explain Karn, the Great Creator !

ShadowMasterNL Karn is a stax it prevents my opponent to use their artifacts activated abilities, so prevent them to tap them for mana and he will eventually pair with Infernal Darkness. This will make it hard for my opponents to remove or cast stuff for a while except if they run a lot of swamps in their decks.
