vbfabled Deckling

Hey! I'm Fabled and I like EDH! In particular I really enjoy building EDH with commanders who don't get much attention but I think are really cool, like Depala, Pilot Exemplar in Depala's Great Dwarf Armada, or Atarka, World Render in my favorite of my decks Double Dragon: The Rendering(Co-created with vibrabones). My EDH decks aren't competitive because neither is the format, darn it!

Besides EDH, I'm pretty knowledgeable about Standard, Frontier, and just a little in Pauper and Modern, and I'm glad to try to help with any deck, unless it has a boring name. As a rule I avoid looking at anything named "8-Rack Modern" or "Jund Werewolves" or whatever. That's not even trying.

Favorite Card: Ornithopter

Favorite Color: Green

Favorite Guild: Gruul for playstyle, Izzet for flavor

Favorite Tarkir Clan: Temur for playstyle, Sultai for flavor

Favorite Shard: Bant

Favorite Tribe: Hydras

Favorite Planeswalker: Urza

Anyway, take a look at my decks and let me know if you want help on yours. Thanks!

Cheap and deadly, huh? Well, it is a couple of dollars, but if you have it, Iroas, God of Victory is really good for aggro. Some more affordable threats are Firemane Avenger to drain away your opponent's life and creatures, Nobilis of War to make all your guys hit harder, and Master Warcraft as a good game-ender.

Good luck building!

Baral, Chief of Compliance would be cool here. Help you get to the cards you need when you need them.

I suggest Inspired Charge and Raise the Alarm. Otherwise, very cool casual deck.

If you're set on running Champion of Rhonas, I'd recommend running some larger creatures to fully take advantage of its ability. While they're still in standard there's always Kozilek, the Great Distortion and Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger, but if you want to go more budget or not have to worry about the rotation this fall, there's always the gearhulks. If you get into the late game, Verdurous Gearhulk and Noxious Gearhulk for free could definitely give you an edge.

He'd either go through a complete reversal and become super powerful and confident, or he'd just use his powers to hide even more effectively.

Brion Stoutarm, throwing goats through the multiverse!

Yeah I know... But I can dream, right?

Either way, a Phyrexian invasion of another plane would be pretty cool right about now.

April 22, 2017 2:04 p.m.

Yeah I don't mean planeswalker card, but yes, an Urza card would be awesome if he weren't so dead.

Just a non-planeswalker character that would be cool as a planeswalker.

Another idea, one of the Phyrexian Praetors ascending would be pretty intense. Imagine Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite traveling to other planes, or maybe Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur spreading the phyrexian oil to other worlds. I personally hoped that the Planar Bridge on Kaladesh would be used to bring Phyrexians to the plane in an apocalypse type story.

Nah dude. Uncle Istvan all the way

I heard this come up as an interesting hypothetical: If you could pick any MtG character to become a planeswalker, who would it be and why?

My personal pick would probably be Niv-Mizzet. One, because I'm tired of entirely humanoid planeswalkers(besides 2 semi-humanoid dragons) and 2, he'd be an interesting threat to some of the other walkers and potentially give a lot to the story.

Ya know I keep thinking about whether or not the Gatewatch will win. WotC has had them winning a lot lately, but also just think about all the things Nicol Bolas has accomplished. He's an even more iconic character than any of the Gatewatch(except maybe Jace) and I don't know that WotC is ready to give him another big defeat.

I personally hope the Gatewatch falls flat on their faces and Ajani comes rolling in with reinforcements of like Tamiyo or Sarkhan or the 1,000 other planeswalkers with a reason to fight Bolas.

I disagree. Siege Rhino is hardly and automatic win in a set with so many counters and removal spells. Besides, cards like Mantis Rider are just as powerful, if not stronger in limited.

Yes! Agreed! Kill all of them!

But yeah, not Ajani, he's been one of my favorites ever since I saw Ajani, Mentor of Heroes as a new player and saw the words "gain 100 life".

I only played casual when KTK was Standard, but I did sometimes play it in limited. In my opinion, Khans was one of the best draft sets in recent history, and in Limited it's a lot more balanced cuz you can't guarantee Siege Rhino.

If they did it didn't work. Nissa's freakin boring now.

Now that Gideon Tribal is somehow actually a little viable in standard, I think Gideon's had enough.

April 20, 2017 1:54 p.m.

I feel like killing Gideon would have more reason than just for the sake of killing him. The Gatewatch has gotten cocky in their repeated success, and if they write it in well enough, his death would have a major impact on the rest of the Gatewatch. They all look up to him(except maybe Liliana) as an unshakable righteous warrior, who seems unkillable. A very Achilles-esque character. But Gideon's Greek hubris is already starting to show with the whole trials thing he's doing, and just like Achilles, I think that may ultimately lead to his death.

I really don't think we need relationships in the Gatewatch, plus a Nissa/Chandra thing would feel pretty forced to me, like they were doing it just to have a token gay relationship. Also, doubt Gideon/Lili would ever come close to being a thing. Way too different people.

Also, I don't know if WotC just retconned this, but Nissa was extremely racist back in the original Zendikar story, so she's got issues too.

I really doubt if they'll go back in time this time. I thought it was fine the first time they did it, it kind of gave a similar feel to the Lorwyn/Shadowmoor block where we got new versions of all the characters, but they really don't need to again.
