Deckling -

When I discovered MTG as a kid, it was just another game, set apart only by how strange and expensive it was. In my play group, pre-constructed decks full of cherry-picked cards were a concept we'd never heard of. We thought the game was just giant, unfocused piles of cards more or less arbitrarily at war. Want more cards? Buy boosters and hope. It seemed so confused and random, with every game dependent on what jumbled assortment one happened to have on hand. We simply didn't know any better. And after a few years, I put it away.

Now, I'm re-learning the game, and discovering all the nuances that escaped me back then.
