I would assume the OP is intentionally trying to substitute for the previous go-to creatures to be faster. I've seen a number of people trying to make pauper burn a faster list by going to a Ghitu/Keldon package. I'm torn personally between doing that and going Lavarunner/Alchemist, but it could be a meta call. Alchemist gets no value if it's removed, but if it sticks, it gives inevitability. (I still like it in the mirror, because your opponent has to stop burning you to remove it.)

I wonder how well the X-spells and Reverberate will work here. Burn generally wants to be able to operate on as few lands as possible and end the game quickly, and these all need you to draw a lot of lands over many turns to become useful. They also have an additional anti-synergy with Shard Volley which wants to eat any extra lands you find.

Other budget creatures to consider for burn include Keldon Marauders (guaranteed 2 damage, max 5), Hellspark Elemental, and Abbot of Keral Keep. I might also consider the new Ghitu Lavarunner. It works well in pauper, so it at least might not be terrible in modern as a budget replacement for Goblin Guide.

I personally like to have at least two Magma Jet to scry land away or dig for whatever I need, and I like anything with the name "searing," such as Searing Blood or Searing Blaze (honorable mention to Smash to Smithereens), though these are sometimes better for sideboards until you know whether your opponent is playing valid targets.

Has anyone tested Flame of Keld for this type of deck yet?

How about a turn two win? With unlimited money, Mox Opal would make it possible to play a turn one Torgaar: land producing B, three 0-drop creatures, mox, tap for BB, sac and play Torgaar.

Stealing another idea from Affinity, Springleaf Drum could be a turn 1 play giving another way to turn a sacrificial creature into mana.

It looks like the biggest problem is that you're all-in on the Torgaar combo, but you're just not always going to draw Torgaar. I suspect you lose immediately to countermagic and removal is brutal.

Perhaps a reanimator subtheme to get Torgaar out of the yard if it gets countered, removed, or pitched to Faithless Looting? So maybe Goryo's Vengeance...

For the record, this deck can win on turn 3 against a goldfish. Play 3 Soul-Scar Mages, and then triple Wizard's Lightning.

I've won with it turn 3 once against an actual opponent, but that involved playing Kari Zev's Expertise out of the sideboard and stealing Grand Warlord Radha to get way more mana than I deserved.
