Hmm I'd say Errand of Duty is a two-fold cut, first because it's only one token for two mana, and secondly because you have to explain how banding works to most other players.

Cackling Counterpart is a great card, but, since it only can target a creature you control, it actually doesn't have very many good targets in your deck. Not Forgotten is an okay card to interact with graveyard decks, but I'm not sure if it will really pull its weight.

Hope that helps a little!

Have you heard of Arena and the Magus of the Arena ? They also allow you to start fights when you want! Ezuri's Predation is also a big-time brawl! (and "one-side" board wipe if you give the beasts you make deathtouch!) Setessan Tactics is another good way to make creatures duke it out.

From one Jelover to another, this deck made me smile!

I do recommend Nightmare Incursion , which would be excellent alongside Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth .

Thada Adel, Acquisitor is also a good way to remove "pesky artifacts" (I'm looking at you, Paradox Engine ). She is commonly known as "the Sol Ring Stealer" but many people overlook that she exiles the artifact permanently. Sure, you can only cast it the turn you steal it, but why would anyone other than that Oloro player need an Aetherflux Reservoir ?

Happy brewing, all hail the Poster Child of Grixis!

Let me start out by saying this might be the most interesting take on Taigam that I have seen!

I think running a few anthem effects (such as Glorious Anthem or Spear of Heliod ) will help make you token army more impactful. Cathars' Crusade is particularly potent, triggering for each token you produce.

You may want to consider cutting Even the Odds , since it has a casting restriction that is not as easily met as some of your other token producers. A few draw spells (even Divination is fine) can help keep you from falling behind on cards.

Lightning Bolt is strictly better than Shock , so that's an easy upgrade.

Although Zada, Hedron Grinder isn't a Wizard, I think she works well in supporting your overall goal. By targeting Zada with any of your cheap cantrips, you draw cards equal to the number of creatures you control. The copies aren't cast, but it could also work well with Eye of the Storm. An optimistic example:

You control Zada, Laboratory Maniac , and four creatures; Eye of the Storm has Leap and Expedite currently exiled. You cast Slip Through Space targeting Zada. Have Zada's trigger resolve first, so Slip targets LabMan and the four others (draw 5). Then, your eye trigger resolves. Target Zada with Leap, Expedite, and the newly exiled Slip. Zada copies those to each other creature you control as well, so you each of your three (3) cantrips would target your six (Zada +LabMan + 4 other) creatures, drawing you 18 cards (23 total, counting the first 5 you drew).

If you're looking for more cantrips, there are some functional reprints of cards you're currently playing, namely Cloak of Feathers and Crimson Wisps . Cards such as Renegade Tactics , Cerulean Wisps , and Twisted Image might also prove useful.

Not sure what your budget is for this deck, but Coat of Arms and Shared Animosity are great ways to crash with a horde of goblins!

Mana Echoes is a great way to generate lots of mana, potentially just by tapping Krenko! Umbral Mantle is yet another way to untap your general to continue emptying the Goblin Warrens ."

First and foremost, a typical EDH deck wants around 37 lands (ish), so you can trim down some of those (I'd suggest the deserts, unless you think those might fit your final theme).

I think Day of Destiny is good in a dedicated Legendary Creature deck, which this certainly isn't (you've got a mix of archetypes, and it might be possible to support a little bit of each of them).

Is Ring of Three Wishes on theme? If not, I don't think you need it here. Honor's Reward doesn't do too much, and has an abzan symbol. Psychic Sprial is a niche card that probably doesn't accomplish much here. Rally the Ancestors has flavor text from an abzan dude, and Youthful Scholar has a sultai watermark, the Dazzling Ramparts has an abzan watermark, and Shockmaw Dragon has a Kolaghan one. I'd say all of those are cuts.

I know that's not much, but keep cycling it as you narrow down what you want your deck to do!

Gideon's Avenger appreciates when things get tapped down, and Ojutai, Soul of Winter can help do so!

Thoughtweft Gambit is a big tap/untap card that could be fun. Gigadrowse is as good as you choose to make it, while Gideon's Lawkeeper and Goldmeadow Harrier are more ways to tap down other creatures every turn.

Conjurer's Closet allows you to blink Azor and your other valuable etbs (enters the battlefield abilities), and Sphinx's Revelation is what Azor does when he attacks.

Hi! First and foremost, welcome to EDH! I do have a small piece of unfortunate news regarding Sygg, River Cutthroat . Since you commander has a Bant color identity (Green, white, blue), a card such as Sygg, River Cutthroat cannot be run, since he is a Dimir color card (color identity Blue Black). Although he can be cast using just blue mana (great job on your fixing btw), cards with hybrid mana costs still unfortunately cannot find a home in a deck outside the Commander's color identity.

Sorry if I overexplained that a bit, but I hope it made sense!

I'd also recommend running a few instances of single target removal. Cards such as Beast Within and Song of the Dryads are popular, since they handle any type of pesky permanent. Other common single target removal spells could include Swords to Plowshares , Disenchant , and Darksteel Mutation .

It might be worth considering another board wipe, such as Winds of Rath , which won't destroy any of the merfolk you've enchanted!

Oh why did it double post...

Sorry for that! But I did also find another nice synergy! Vedalken Humiliator makes creatures into 1/1s, so any creature equipped with Thornbite Staff can kill off the affected creatures.

February 19, 2019 2:55 p.m.

Always happy to help! The thinking behind Thornbite Staff lies in its synergy with Deathtouch creatures. Pay 2 mana, tap Silas ( Baleful Strix also works), deal 1 damage to target creature, that creature dies due to being dealt damage by a creature with deathtouch. Then, since a creature died, your equipped creature untaps, allowing you to repeat the process (as long as you have the mana).

Hope that makes sense!

Final Parting is a fantastic tutor that allows you to add one of your big threats to your hand and potentially put a cheap artifact in your card for Silas to recast. Trinket Mage is another fantastic way to find a land drop (since you run Seat of the Synod and Vault of Whispers ) or Sol Ring or Skullclamp .

Thornbite Staff allows you to turn your general into a one-sided board wipe (mana permitting).

I'd also recommend cutting All Is Dust , since a lot of your artifact creatures would actually be sacrificed (including Silas).

Executioner's Capsule is a good removal card that Silas can also retrieve when necessary.

Deck name options (if you'd like) "Grave Tidings," "My Drotha," "Mulling Over Drotha."

As for cards, I'd recommend the likes of Corpse Connoisseur , Final Parting , and Jarad's Orders , which help you find cards you might want in a given situation, which can also be brought back by Muldrotha.

Thada Adel, Acquisitor is great at stealing other people's Sol Rings, amongst other potentially desirable artifacts. Wrexial, the Risen Deep is basically unblockable with Intimidate, Islandwalk, and Swampwalk.

Fireshrieker allows you to double up on a creature's combat damage trigger, and it can be tutored by Deadeye Quartermaster , who can also help you grab any of the equipment cards in your deck. Another good equipment to consider is Bloodforged Battle-Axe .

Other cool cards include Lord of the Void , Sphinx Ambassador , and Drana, Liberator of Malakir .

Unspeakable Symbol is a great way to put counters on your creatures, while also lowering your life total so you can continue to trigger dethrone.

Grave Betrayal allows you to steal your opponents' creatures after they die, and then keep them around once more after death since they'll have a +1/+1 counter!

Grimgrin, Corpse-Born is a solid sac outlet with +1/+1 counters as well as a way to destroy threatening creatures or clear opposing blockers.

Let me know what you think of these suggestions. Happy brewing!

February 18, 2019 10:47 a.m.

Magus of the Coffers , Nirkana Revenant , and Cabal Stronghold are also good ways to generate extra mana from your Swamps.

Blade of the Bloodchief fits great with Kalitas (who, if I recall correctly, is/was the Bloodchief of Ghet). Although creatures your opponents control won't "die" while Kalitas is out, the Zombies you make can serve as fodder to further grow your general. I'd also recommend Rogue's Passage to help your general get through when you need to. Sometimes, you can convert your zombie army into a big power spike for Kalitas, and then take out an opponent with commander damage.

February 18, 2019 10:35 a.m.

I'd say the best cut is the Wolfbriar Elemental , which doesn't really fit your theme. Hydroid Krasis in this instance would be replacing another mana sink, but instead of 2/2 wolves, you get to draw cards and gain life. I think that's a tremendously useful tradeoff, especially since the Hydra Jellyfish Beast draws those cards on cast, not on etb, meaning even if the Krasis is countered, you still gain half X life and draw X.

Said on Isao stands alone...

Grappling Hook could be a very interesting trick, allowing you to force your opponent to block your general and trigger Bushido. Blighted Woodland is another good ramp land. Blackblade Reforged is a solid equipment for your Isao as well.

Nissa's Pilgrimage is the forest version of Cultivate and Kodama's Reach . Nissa, Vital Force isn't too expensive last I checked (maybe $5?) and provides a lot of utility (untap land, extra create, return a destroyed equipment, or ult for extra card draw).

Hope this helped, happy brewing!

February 15, 2019 12:03 p.m.

I think KayneMarco has a good point about cards like Rogue's Passage . Key to the City is another good option, since it's cheap, and actually can provide a bit of additional card advantage.

Some extra low-cost draw spells to pump Toothy could be Ideas Unbound , Concentrate , Harmonize , Ancestral Vision , Breakthrough (although this one has a big downside), Careful Consideration , Cephalid Coliseum , Compulsive Research , and Ordeal of Thassa . On a related note, Thassa, God of the Sea would be another good addition, smoothing your draws with scry while also providing another way to make Toothy unblockable.

I honestly believe Song of the Dryads is one of the most powerful removal spells around, because turning a commander into a Forest just invalidates them until the enchantment is destroyed (because their forest general isn't destroyed by cards like Wrath of God ).

Happy Brewing!
