Philigan87 Deckling

Hello all!

I'm something of a filthy casual, but I like to try my best as well.

I'm a total Vorthos, so I like my decks to have themes as far as I can manage it. =)

My favorite colors to play are , and and my favorite type of cards to play with are enchantments.

If I had to name my favorite planeswalker, I'd have to say Sorin. I hope he gets out of the wall soon! >_<

Adamaro thanks! Just sprung the dough for my shocklands, so idyllic tutor might be a paycheck or two away at the moment! :(

Might I recommend Smothering Abomination?

Nice to see Trostani! The lifegain build is more effective than people imagine, so I'm glad you're making the most of it.

If you're playing around lifegain, might I suggest Alhammarret's Archive for double on your gains? Soul Warden and Essence Warden would also go really well here, as they will also gain life for your opponent's creatures as well as yours.

Also, have you considered Glare of Subdual? It can shut down attackers pretty effectively.

Hanweir Militia Captain  Flip is another good (and cheap) creature for Trostani builds.

Deploy to the Front and Devout Invocation might be sorceries to consider, as they can get pretty out of control.

If you really want to go mental with mana too Earthcraft and Cryptolith Rite can really play into your many creatures, (especially combined with your Mirari's wake.)

You might also want to consider Oran-Rief, the Vastwood and Khalni Garden for your lands.

So glad to see an earnest Trostani deck though, not enough people use her anymore!

Theyre just extra ones to make the combo easier to draw into. But you dont need them at all, unless infinite combo is your one and only aim, which to be honest isnt as fun, lol.

I used to run a simmilar deck where the aim was to combo off by turn 5 minimum, and every card was a combo piece, but as I say its not as fun to play that way. Kekeke...

Ghave is a really dangerous Commander, as infinite combos are easy to achieve. Phyrexian Altar and Earthcraft can act as pseudo versions of adhnods.

Dictate of Erebos and Grave Pact turn your sacs into removal.

Rot Shambler, Twilight Drover, Requiem Angel, Unruly Mob and Hardened Scales all feed the combo.

Use responsibly.

If thats the case, I would say drop Doran all together and stick to a b/g build.

If youre attempting to meet delrium critera dredge can really help with this alao increading potential targets for Journey to Eternity.

Dredge ceatures like Stinkweed Imp and Shambling Shell play into this well, as they fill the grave and are meant to be killed/sacrificed making them good targets for Journey to Eternity.

If you want to take advantage of lands in the graveyard Splendid Reclamation, The Gitrog Monster and Ramunap Excavator will help with this.

If you find Journey to Eternity ends up in the grave, you can use cards like Nyx Weaver, Nature's Spiral or Reviving Melody to get it back again.

But yeah, I think you can afford to drop all the white from the deck.

Hope thats more helpful.

Initially, I was expectig to see a full fledged doran deck. So I'm sorry of these suggestions don't fit with what you're trying to do. If you could elaborate on what the plan for this deck is it might give a clearer insight into what you need.

If you do want to build around Doran thue best additons would be Assault Formation and Behind the Scenes. You could use cards like Commune with the Gods, Ajani, Mentor of Heroes and Abzan Beastmaster to draw into them as well as drawig into doran. The rest of the deck would just be cheap 0/4s a play set of Nyx-Fleece Rams, a play set of Kin-Tree Invocation and some removal spells.

However if that's not what you're trying to do wih this deck I'm not sure what to suggest.

Hope that helps a little.

Thanks for the tips guys!

SethVeeper I've decided to put Journey to Nowhere into the main board for removal, as I think it covers more than Pacifism in that it stops activated abilities too. I'd still rather Aqueous Form than Snake Umbra as it allows for scry to-boot.

Gattison Also I've taken your advice and ditched the life-lands for Terramorphic Expanses and Evolving Wilds, as well as adding copies of Brainstorm in place of some other enchantments.

Megalomania Thanks :)

Fetchlands will probably be my next acquisition once I get a little richer.

I try to avoid auras in this deck where possible as it becomes hard to get multiple auras on one crature thanks to Sterling Grove which I always aim to have in play as soon as I can.

Im also trying to keep non-enchantments (ie. instants/sorcieries) to a minimum as to maximise my draws from the enchantresses.

I think if youre going for +1 counters, Ivy Lane Denizen and Kalonian Hydra should be included.

Since the deck is dependent on creatures Asceticism will probably be useful too.

Also might be a bit out of left field but the monstrosity ability of Hydra Broodmaster would work well for younin this deck too.

@Entari0, this deck looks really solid tbh. The only additions I might recommend are the new(ish) desert cards. Desert of the Glorified, Desert of the Indomitable, Ifnir Deadlands and Hashep Oasis, as they have value effects and trigger Gitrog.

If you're into forcing people to sac, I would recommend (some of this will depend on your budget) Desecration Demon, Dictate of Erebos and/or Grave Pact, Merciless Executioner and/or Fleshbag Marauder.

This looks amazing.

My only suggestions are the artifact lands.

Vault of Whispers, Ancient Den, Seat of the Synod and Great Furnace.

Nice deck idea!

I think if your main aim is to dig out the combo, perhaps include some more dredging creatures. Shambling Shell and Stinkweed Imp are the best ones IMO.

Nyx Weaver will also filter into your grave and will let you fetch the card as well.

If you need more card recursion Dirty is a not so bad one too. Seasons Past though high costing, can also get the job done.

Also handy for getting damage through the line are Wonder and Filth, especially in sultai graveyard decks.

I love the idea of this deck. +1 For you.

You might find some utility in Wretched Confluence and in replacing one of your swamps with an Ifnir Deadlands.

I took out Kruphix's Insight, as I was finding it a little hit and miss.

I would like to put aura shards in. What would you reccomend I take out?
