MRDOOM3 Deckling

So, yeah, I've only been playing since Journey into Nyx. Not a long time compared to my friends, who have been playing since God knows when. Even so, my deckbuilding skills have improved considerably over the years. It took at least 12-15 decks for me to finally get better at it... Even so, I still am kinda bad at it. Probably because after a while, I tend to fall into a phase I'd like to call "falling asleep": when after a while, I just stick stuff in a deck just because its ability works with the deck I am building. My favorite color combinations are anything involving , , or . Lately, however, I have been experimenting with decks involving and , such as with my Xenagos and Sen Triplets decks below.

Personally, I feel as if the core of this deck should be:

4x Combat Celebrant- Additional combat phases = more exert.

4x Glory-Bound Initiate- Pretty self-explanatory here.

4x Glorybringer- 5 mana, hits the battlefield, removes pesky blockers like Bone Picker.

4x Bitterblade Warrior- Exert=Deathtouch, nuff said.

4x Ahn-Crop Crasher- 3 mana, hits the battlefield, prevents creatures like Bone Picker from blocking.

4x Always Watching - Pretty self-explanatory as well.

The remaining slots: Lands, maybe untap spells if you want.

I feel as if these creatures are probably the best exert creatures out there.

Until you draw into Always Watching , you will probably need untap spells like Synchronized Strike, Spidery Grasp, Prepare / Fight, and Gideon, Martial Paragon, since exerting creatures tends to slow the deck down.

I definitely would say that Ahn-Crop Crasher and Glorybringer are the better Exert creatures, mainly because they have haste, and hence can land some damage before getting removed.

Crypt Ghast, in my opinion, is not really useful in this deck, unless there's also Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth.

Exsanguinate is another nice lifedrain card.

Paradox Haze is another card that interacts well with Oloro.

Also, have you considered Pontiff of Blight, along with Divinity of Pride, Serra Ascendant, Blood Baron of Vizkopa, and Test of Endurance?

Koskun Falls is another pillowfort enchantment you can run.

Another life doubler is Boon Reflection.

I also personally do not really like Sublime Exhalation, but since my playgroup tends to play Avacyn, Angel of Hope, you can keep it if you want. I was going to suggest sweepers like Merciless Eviction or Cyclonic Rift.

Vindicate is another nice removal spell, so are Path to Exile and Ashes to Ashes.

A meh spell you can run is Temporal Extortion, although it may not be too great, since giving your opponent choices isn't always too great. You also can try out Quietus Spike and Scytheclaw.

Sorin, Grim Nemesis also interacts well with lifegain decks.

Have you considered cards like Tragic Arrogance, Supreme Verdict, or Cataclysm? I personally feel as if you need at least 4-5 wipes handy, in case the situation gets a little dicey, as in, someone attacks you with mass tokens. Then again, since you say "casual", I suppose you have your reasons for not doing so.

Recently, I built my Bruna, Light of Alabaster EDH deck. However, when I went back on to make a revision, I scrolled down and saw that it said "This deck is not Commander/EDH legal", saying that Mana Crypt is not EDH legal. Is this a new ban that I'm missing, or is the website being glitchy (my Sen Triplets deck also has Mana Crypt and the site says that it is EDH legal)?

I wouldn't call this deck oversized, unless you can't shuffle it without assistance. 60 is just the bare minimum for a deck, and there is no maximum, again, only with the above restriction, mainly because Battle of Wits is a card. Although, yes, with a bigger deck, it's much less likely you will be able to draw a card needed for a particular situation.

Eerie Interlude and Ghostly Flicker are both nice flicker spells. So is Venser, the Sojourner.

You also can try out Mechanized Production as an alt wincon.

You also can try out Legion Loyalist, Hero of Bladehold, Aegis of the Gods, Loxodon Gatekeeper, and Tajic, Blade of the Legion.

Aurelia, the Warleader, despite not being a soldier, can allow your soldiers to pack more punch, and can allow Battalion cards to trigger twice, such as the aforementioned Tajic. Gisela, Blade of Goldnight can also double the pain.

Odric, Master Tactician (aka "Captain No-Blocks") is one of my favorite creatures for a token deck. Crusader of Odric is nice as well.

Speaking of Aurelia, you also can throw in a bunch of cards that give additional combat phases, such as Savage Beating, Aggravated Assault, World at War, Waves of Aggression, Relentless Assault, etc.

For some more tribal staples, you can put in Obelisk of Urd, Coat of Arms, Adaptive Automaton, Brass Herald, etc.

Sorry for double posting, but according to a netrep, Vesuva copying a Dark Depths has the counters, unlike Thespian's Stage, which is already in the battlefield and doesn't have the counters.

@5_Emmas_in_Main- Yeah, I just found that out yesterday... Sorry bout that...

May 22, 2017 10:03 a.m.

Heroes' Podium and Akroma's Memorial are nice for Sisay, so is Reki, the History of Kamigawa. There also is Day of Destiny and maybe Konda's Banner.

You are aware that if this is a Legacy deck, Sensei's Divining Top is banned, right?

Also, have you considered Vesuva, Thespian's Stage and/or Crucible of Worlds?

May 21, 2017 4:47 p.m.

Thought Lash is really nice card in Zedruu EDH. Same can be said about Aggressive Mining, Pyromancer's Swath, Mindmoil, Thought Devourer, Statecraft, Psychic Vortex, and Paradox Haze.

You also can try gifting someone a Summoner's Egg with a Sky Swallower or a Leveler imprinted on it, then with destroying that Egg in some way, shape, or form.

May 21, 2017 12:22 p.m.

Thespian's Stage and Vesuva also work with interact with Dark Depths, since the copies of the lands don't have counters, which means you have an instant Marit Lage.

However, I also would suggest cards like Crucible of Worlds to reanimate your Dark Depths and copy lands, along with Mirror Gallery, because two Marit Lages are better than one.

First things first, you may want to change the format from "Standard" to "Commander/EDH", then type CMDR (asterisk, CMDR, asterisk) next to Samut, Voice of Dissent.

Enduring Ideal is a really nice way to get your enchantments out on the field, but isn't very synergistic with Daxos, Blightcaster, or Celestial Ancient.

Have you considered curses such as Curse of Exhaustion, Curse of Misfortunes, Curse of Thirst, Trespasser's Curse, or Cruel Reality?

Athreos, God of Passage and Debtors' Knell are also really nice reanimators.

Starfield of Nyx and Opalescence are also really nice in enchantment decks.

Sphere of Safety, Blind Obedience, and Koskun Falls can also help build up your pillowfort.

You also can run Extinguish All Hope for a wipe that doesn't affect the spirits summoned by Daxos.

Worship and is nice as well.

May 20, 2017 9:41 p.m.

Reality Acid and Spine of Ish Sah go extremely well with Brago's flicker ability.

You also can try out Strionic Resonator + Sol Ring + Brago's combat damage ability for a nice infinite loop.

Conjurer's Closet, Eerie Interlude, and this other white card like Eerie Interlude, but with "Exile all creatures" instead of "Exile any number of target creatures", I can't remember the name, go nicely with any ETB triggers.

Well, if you can tell me what it's centered around, I can probably help you a little more than I can at the moment. For the moment, I will assume +1/+1 counters.

Mikaeus, the Lunarch and Gavony Township are both really nice cards for a counters deck. They get even more ridiculous with cards like Hardened Scales, Doubling Season, and Primal Vigor.

Rishkar, Peema Renegade turns the creatures with counters on them into basically mana dorks.

Avatar of the Resolute, Undergrowth Champion, Renegade Krasis, Cytoplast Root-Kin, Gyre Sage, Fungal Behemoth, Champion of Lambholt, Anafenza, Kin-Tree Spirit, maybe Sunbringer's Touch, Cathars' Crusade, and Death's Presence are also nice.

For some more value with your +1/+1 counters, you can run Ainok Bond-Kin, Tuskguard Captain, and Abzan Battle Priest. Same can be said about Solidarity of Heroes, Inspiring Call, Armorcraft Judge, etc.

Once again, I sort of jumped to conclusions about your deck upon seeing some of the cards in it. I hoped these suggestions are on the right track of what you wanted this deck to be, and good luck with your deck.

@LachlanC Check the "Hubs" part when you click on "Edit". It should be somewhere near the bottom, next to where you put in the "Featured Card".
