Hi, I'm Joshuawesome. If it isn't obvious, my real name is Joshua and I like playing Magic.
I started playing Magic the Gathering October of 1997. I was 17 years old and the Tempest set had just been released. Prior to that, my only exposure to Magic was watching nerdy kids in middle school and high school play it during lunch. I consider myself a "Closet Nerd", meaning that you wouldn't think I'd be into things people usually stereotype as nerdy if you looked at me.
After I started getting into Magic myself, I was instantly hooked. I never played in tournaments or any other public settings, but I befriended several other players and we would get together and play huge multiplayer games (6+ players) for hours almost every other day. I played steadily until September of 2001 (right when Odyssey was released) then quit due to having other priorities like work and just not being able to find the time for it. I just recently started it up again in February of 2013, and got hooked all over again. My favorite format is Commander/EDH, and for me half the fun is building decks, which is why you'll see me post a lot of my deck monstrosities often.
As mentioned before, my name is Joshua. I am 33 years old, married, with too many kids (ranging from 10-16 years old). I am a career man, working in the Operations Department (or as we call it, Black Ops) for the 3rd largest provider of Property and Casualty Insurance in the world. I live in Tempe, Arizona and I do a lot of my Magicing at Samurai Comics in Mesa. Most of the people I've known who've played Magic have either moved or quit, so I'm always interested in making new friends to play cards with (My current playgroup consists of me and two others, and they're not as into it as I am). Also, if this page is any indicator, I am a big fan of parenthesis.
