What happens when Loxodon Smiter and Soul Ransom meets?

Say my opponent steals my creature with Soul Ransom . I have in my hand 2 Loxodon Smiter and i decide to discard them. Loxodon Smiter enter the battlefield or go to grave?

The key to this is in the text of Soul Ransom: "Only an opponent may activate this ability". You put the ability on the stack, not your opponent, so the Smiters will go to the grave.

They go to the graveyard. Loxodon Smiter only goes to the battlefield if it's discarded by a "spell or ability" your opponent controls. In this case he's being discarded by you as a cost to activate an ability you control, which is something else entirely.

I would guess that although you activate the ability, your opponent controls it because they control the Soul Ransom . I think your Smiters would be put onto the battlefield.
