Targeting with Quicksilver Amulet
Asked by ulysses2009 4 years ago
When using Quicksilver Amulet , when do I have to choose a creature to put into play (because it doesn't say it targets)? Could I activate the ability, respond by bouncing a creature of mine and then bring it into play again directly after that?

Thank you! I was thinking about using it with Mairsil, the Pretender , therefore it is an important difference ;)

ah i see. so you're wanting to activate the "amulet" effect that mairsil gains, bounce the mairsil, then replay mairsil to exile another artifact/creature and gain a new ability on mairsil each turn? that should work. thats pretty neat.

That, and because Mairsil enters as a new object i get around the "once per turn" clause and can use his abilities over and over again if i have enough mana. Like this i am also not limited to caging only one creature or artifact per turn, but i can theoretically do it with my whole hand and graveyard

in that case you'll probably want a few ways of generating infinite mana since the amulet effect uses 4 each time. unfortunately, i don't know any off the top of my head that are in grixis colors.

Of course to do so i have to keep in mind i need a haste enabler as well

I think it should work with some big mana rocks and untappers with Mairsil itself as infinite mana engine, but i am still working on it and looking for cards

you choose the creature when the ability goes to resolve. so technically you "could" activate the amulet, then respond by bouncing a creature, then play the creature again with the amulet. but it'd likely be easier to just bounce the creature before activating the amulet
