Suspension Field on commander

Asked by gianski 9 years ago

Will my opponent wouldn't be able to cast his commander when I use Suspension Field on it until it leaves the battlefield or it doesn't do anything to commanders?

Suspension Field doesn't say anything about disallowing players from casting anything. Cards do only what they say they do.

If a commander would be exiled, its owner may choose to return it to the command zone instead. This is a replacement effect.

Suspension Field creates a zone change effect with a duration. The duration applies even if the zone change is altered. Therefore, if the targeted commander's owner chooses to return his or her commander to the command zone, that creature will be returned to the battlefield as soon as Suspension Field leaves the battlefield.

You're saying that he can cast his commander again but it won't enter the battlefield as long as Suspension Field in on the battlefield?

No.

If the commander's owner chooses to return the commander to the command zone, then he or she may cast it again, and it will enter the battlefield normally. Suspension Field does NOT create any rules preventing players from casting spells or preventing other instances of the target creature from doing anything (including entering the battlefield).

Suspension Field will lose track of the exiled card once it leaves the zone to which it went during the ability's resolution. Casting the commander moves it to the stack, which means that Suspension Field no longer "sees" it.
