Stubborn Denial ferocious counter

Asked by Rengee 9 years ago

If i have ferocious when casting Stubborn Denial does it counter any card that way, or does it still relate to only non creature spells?

Stubborn Denial has a regular effect and a replacement effect that changes the regular effect if you meet the ferocious requirement. The replacement effect only changes the details of how the spell is countered. It doesn't change what Stubborn Denial may target. "that spell" refers to the "target noncreature spell" you declared when you cast Stubborn Denial.

You can still only counter non-creature spells, because the card says, "counter THAT spell instead", referring to the non-creature spell it is targeting
