Rolesk and Clone interaction

Asked by Thingymabob 4 years ago

There's a commander deck I want to build but first I wanted to be sure of the rules interaction. I'm fairly sure this is how it works, but my Googling yielded no results so i'm just asking it myself. So, lets say I have Roalesk, Apex Hybrid and I decide to use Clone on it. I'm fairly sure it plays out like this. The clone Rolesk enters the battlefield. Before priority would be given, the legend state based effect kicks in and I have to put one of them into the graveyard. I choose to put the cloned version in the yard. Now that all state based effects are clear and I regain priority, triggers go onto the stack. The cloned Rolesk's ETB of putting on counters and his dies trigger to proliferate twice should go at the same time. Since they're put on at the same time I can order them as I see fit. So I could put both counters on the original Rolesk and then proliferate twice. Am I correct in that's how it works for clone effects and token producers? Any and all help is always appreciated.

You are correct in that you will get to order the triggers how you like. A small nitpick with what you actually said though, triggers go on the stack before players actually receive priority. So if a.trigger causes another trigger or somehow causes a SBA to be performed, those things will be taken care of before a player can respond.

Okay, I just wanted to make sure that you get all of it from a single clone/token effect and something doesn't cause it to not happen. The somewhat funny part is I originally had it worded as "before anyone gains priority" or something like that. But when I double checked the wording I changed my phrasing XP. Not that it overall affects the interaction itself. Thanks!
