Populate a non legendary token created by Feldon the Third Path

Asked by parjokovic 4 years ago

Will the token from populate ability be sacrificed by the end of the turn or will is stay?

Use double square brackets around a card's name to create a reference link: Feldon of the Third Path. It's the best way to make sure everyone understands what's going on with your question.

You won't sacrifice the populated copy. It also won't have haste.

A copy effect just copies what's written on the original card, and in the case of tokens, it just copies whatever characteristics the token was created with. The "gains haste" and "sacrifice it at the beginning of the next end step" parts of Feldon's effect aren't abilities given to the token as it's created, so they aren't copied (being an artifact is copied).

This is also covered by one of the rulings notes in Feldon's Gatherer entry:

11/7/2014: If another creature becomes a copy of, or enters the battlefield as a copy of, the token, that creature will copy the creature card the token is copying, except it will also be an artifact. This is true even if the creature card that was copied by Feldon of the Third Path is no longer in the graveyard at that time. However, the new copy won't gain haste and you won't sacrifice it at the beginning of the next end step.
