Does Mishra, Artificer Prodigy chain?

Mishra's ability will trigger whenever you cast an artifact spell. The putting another one onto the battlefield due to the ability isn't casting.

It's worth noting that Mishra, Artificer Prodigy , has an Oracle text update that clarifies his trigger. You can check it out on Gatherer here. It now reads "when you cast" not "when you play." This doesn't actually change how it works, but it does make it easier to understand why/how it triggers.

No, Mishra does not trigger himself. Mishra's ability triggers when you cast an artifact, the artifact Mishra gets you is being put directly into play and is not being "cast" nor is it being done by you, it's being done by Mishra's trigger.
