Instant removal vs priority
Asked by Panda213 6 years ago
Opponent plays Mina and Denn, Wildborn, it resolves but I try to immediately Swords to Plowshares it so that they don't get the extra land drop. I'm told that they have priority and while I can exile it they would still get the extra drop. I've been collecting and haven't actually played in a long time, can someone explain this to me at a beginner level?

Yup, they have priority and still get the land drop.

During each players turn, they get priority first. After the last spell on the stack resolves, the active player gets priority. Playing lands dont use stack, and cant be responded to. Only when they cast a spell or try to move to the next part of the turn, do you get priority. So no, a removal spell can not be cast in response to the creature resolving.
