Infect Question

Can infect be dealt without combat damage. For example Nekusar, Mind Razer if you play Phyresis on hm and you draw a card, then can you deal infect with his triggered ability?

KibaAlpha is correct, but I wanted to elaborate a bit and explain why.

The rule in question is Rule 702.89(b), which reads:

Damage dealt to a player by a source with infect doesn’t cause that player to lose life. Rather, it causes that source’s controller to give the player that many poison counters. See rule 119.3.

The relevant part of the rule for your question is that it merely says "damage" rather than "combat damage".
