If I make Gilded Lotus a creature token until end of turn, will Followed Footsteps do what I want it to?

I can understand if I made it a creature on a permanent basis I'd copy it over and over again, but if I just gave it legs for one turn would Followed Footsteps fizzle out after it reverts to non-creature, or would it stay on anyway?

Auras are put into the graveyard as a state based action if they are enchanting something they can't legally enchant. That is, Followed Footsteps will fall off if it's enchanting something that's not a creature, so you won't get tokens.
