How Eidolon of Countless Battles interact with itself?

Asked by Khanth 9 years ago

If there is an Eidolon of Countless Battles casted as a creature, and another Eidolon casted on it as a bestow, how much power and toughness does creature have (assuming there's nothing else on the battlefield)?

It is a 4/4. The creature Eidolon of Countless Battles is a creature but not an aura and so it counts once toward each ability. The bestowed Eidolon of Countless Battles is an aura but not a creature (it is part of how bestow works) so it also is counted once for each ability.

Giving you 1/1 for creatures from the creature; 1/1 for auras from the creature; 1/1 for creatures from the bestowed one; 1/1 for auras from the bestowed one for a total of 4/4.

Should it not be 3/3 since the creature version is not an aura?

Are you sure it would not be a 2/2? As the bestow mechanic only counts each viable card once.

So there are 2 cards in play, 1 creature + 1 aura = 2/2

2/1/2014 A permanent with bestow is either a creature or an Aura, not both (although its an enchantment either way). It will contribute just +1/+1 toward the bonus given by Eidolon of Countless Battles .

Please ignore my post I was having an episode, it would be a 4/4 as both cards grant +2/+2.

D'oh.
