Does paying life count as losing life?

Thinking of the newly spoiled Aetherflux Reservoir-

Does Children of Korlis get me the 50 life back for a second activation?

I'm not sure why you would need to activate it a second time, but yes, you would gain back all life you lost that turn, which includes the amount you paid to Reservoir.

I play commander so hitting multiple people is definitely a thing.

Relevant rule:

118.4. (...) If a player pays life, the payment is subtracted from his or her life total; in other words, the player loses that much life. (...)
